The things you should know about the Apex Potting Shed
We’d love to help give peace of mind that you have chosen the right shed, so have a read about all our unique and innovate product features.
Power 10 Year Guarantee
Every Power Potting Shed is made to stand the test of time. Any shed purchased on the PowerSheds.com website or through an approved Power retailer comes with our free 10 year guarantee, against timber rot, decay or insect infestation.
We source only the finest high grade timber available, suitable for a garden potting shed. The timber is specially and responsibly imported from forests in Scandinavia in line with our sustainability policy. We select slow-grown timber which means the timber is stronger and resistant to warping.
Two Tier Staging
Our Power Potting Sheds come with two tier staging included as standard. The shelving is 500mm deep and fits perfectly under the windows.
Tongue & Groove Throughout
All Power Potting Sheds are made from 12mm thick shiplap tongue and groove timber. Even the floor and roof are 12mm tongue and groove to give extra strength and durability. Shiplap cladding has the additional feature of a small profile at the top of each board. This little channel, allows water to run off the shed quicker than normal tongue and groove. This also helps the shed dry quickly after exposure to rain, helping to protect it from any water damage.
Heavy Duty Framing
The potting shed framing is 44x28mm and rounded at each corner to give a stunning finish. The panels are screwed together and so when joined it creates double strength 44x56mm thick framing.
The potting shed really is something our competitors look up to with it being that extra bit taller to give you ample headroom inside.
Power Potting Sheds come with toughened safety glass as standard. The toughening process improves the structural durability and thermal strength of the glass, in turn increasing its resilience and ability to withstand heat. Toughened glass is 500% more resistant to heat and shock than ordinary glass. The glass is already internally beaded so you don't have to fit the glass yourself and PVC sills complete the window units to prevent water ingress and provide a stunning finish.
A Power Potting Shed comes with galvanised hinges, turn buttons and door pull so the shed lasts longer and minimises oxidisation. Galvanising is coating with a protective layer of zinc in order to protect it from rust and other damage.
Internal corner bracing has been added to every wall panel on your apex shed to maximise strength and rigidity.
Premium 'Super' Felt
The shed is complete with a high performing waterproof felt with special 'polyester' backing ensuring it lasts longer and doesn't ripple or tear easily. The felt is saturated with a protective coating called bitumen (asphalt), which repels water but still allows the product to breathe.
Our special formula wood preserver has a wax additive allowing you to go a WHOLE YEAR without the need to re-treat your apex shed. However, it is water based and has just the right amount of wax so that if you want to paint the shed a different colour, you can. At Power we dip treat shed panels into a tank of preservative fully submerging the panel into the treatment. All surfaces are thoroughly immersed before being removed and dried.
Roof Truss Support
A roof truss will stop shed roofs sagging even after years of use. Your apex shed will come with a roof truss every 4ft. A truss is a structural framework of timber designed to provide support for a roof.

Customers often ask if you can insulate a garden shed. Insulation works by slowing the transfer of heat, with the aim to prevent heat (or cold) from being transmitted – either from inside of the shed to the outside, or from the outside of the shed to the inside.
It is possible to insulate a garden shed but there is a bit of work to do to achieve this. There is framing in the shed which creates a void to allow you to insulate it, and then board over.
Do you offer bespoke sheds?
Please note that many of our sheds are fully adaptable where you can position the doors and windows on any side as you build it.
If you require a shed with additional or fewer doors or windows etc then this is usually not an issue for us.
If there is anything more complex you would like then please get in touch with your requirements and we can advise through either calling us on 01274 036577 or emailing us at email@example.com.
Can you provide a garden shed with two doors?
Yes – we can certainly provide a shed with another door. This could be a door at each end of the shed to create a kind of tunnel, or two doors next to each other for example. There are plenty options available for garden sheds with two doors.
Pricing available on enquiry.
Please note, there are different charges for the security sheds as these come with a high security lock.
If you would like to place an order for a garden shed with two doors then you would have to order this over the telephone.
Does the garden shed roof come pre-felted?
Unfortunately the roof cannot be delivered pre-felted. This would have to be put on the roof during shed assembly. The roof panels are modular which means the felt cannot be put on prior to assembly. Our customers usually don’t find it too difficult to install and if you did have issues, we can guide you over the phone if necessary.
Here is a video showing our felt being installed on to the shed:
The felt we supply is a polyester backed roofing felt, explained the video following:
Does the shed come with instructions and fixings?
Absolutely – full and comprehensive instructions are included. We also supply all the screws and nails necessary to put together your garden building. If you have any issues installing please do not hesitate to get in touch so we can help you over the phone.
Please see our installation instructions for all of our building range.
Is the timber treated on the log cabins?
The log cabins come completely untreated, except the pressure treated floor bearers. The extremely precise machining of the logs, which is required to ensure the perfect fit, require the building to be treated after assembly rather than before. Treating the logs before you install the cabin may result in the components not fitting correctly as it can cause the timber to expand.
Some components are okay to treat prior to installation, such as the pressure treated bearers, floor, and roof boards. In fact, there are some areas that will be much hard to treat annually, so try to get a few coats prior to assembly on to ensure the longevity of your building.
Once the rest of your cabin is assembled you can treat it using any high quality, oil or solvent based preserver. We advise treating both the inside and outside of your cabin to maintain our 10 Year Guarantee on the timber. Take extra care to brush treatment into all wooden components inside and outside.
We recommend a well-known brand such as Protek and provide a free, 5L container of Protek Wood Preserver ++ with every log cabin to get you started! You may require more than this for your log cabin, and we recommend a high-end brand such as Protek.
How much preserver you will need will depend on the size of your cabin, the preserver used, the method of application and the number of coats applied. Always refer to the suppliers’ directions on usage when assessing how much preserver you will need.
What is shiplap tongue and groove cladding?
Tongue and groove claddingis where each board has a ‘tongue’ which locks into the ‘groove’ of the board above. Our Shiplap Power sheds are comprised of shiplap tongue and groove cladding which is a form of tongue and groove.
Shiplap cladding on a shed is a type of tongue and groove cladding. Shiplap cladding has the additional feature of a small profile at the top of each board. This little channel, allows water to run off the shed quicker than normal tongue and groove. This also helps the shed dry quickly after exposure to rain, helping to protect it from any water damage. Shiplap tongue and groove cladding also gives sheds an attractive appearance and has a robust and sturdy structure.
Excellent Delivery and Price. Built in no time. Really Pleased.
Well made solid shed
It was delivered when they said it would be, even at this difficult time. It was easy to assemble, but it needed two people, but that was not a problem. It is a very well made solid shed.
