We Created the Ultimate Football Fan’s Shed… and You Can Win It!

AnnouncementOctober 8, 2022

Our sheds can be used for anything and everything in the garden, from simple tool storage through to offices and gyms – we’ve seen it all! Throughout the last year, we’ve also seen a lot more sheds converted into pubs and places to escape the house. That’s why we wanted to celebrate the football season by creating the perfect shed for a die-hard football fan to enjoy (or look through their fingers in horror at) the new season.

The Idea

After England’s success, or should we say ‘nearly success’ at Euro 2020, we went into the new football season full of excitement. We were also inspired by the number of people we’d seen taking our sheds and turning them into truly special garden escapes – some of whom were able to enjoy a summer of football in them.

We decided that it was the perfect excuse to give one of our sheds, a 8x6 foot apex shed to be precise, the ultimate makeover. So, we commissioned an artist to provide our shed with the ultimate paint job – a giant mural depicting 29 of the most legendary moments in Premier League history!

Prepping and Painting the Shed

We’ve probably all painted a shed before, but probably not to this level! Whereas a nice coat or two of Ronseal will often do the job, helping you protect your shed from the elements, we had an altogether different ‘goal’ (pun intended!) for this project. We started by filling in any screw holes with wood filler and applying a white base coat to the shed, making sure we had the perfect, flat blank surface on which to paint the mural.

Once this was dried, our painter, Maria Libik, then drew chalk outlines of the 29 Premier League moments onto the surface, ready for painting. The actual painting of the details took a number of days of painstaking work with acrylic paint, but we think you’ll agree that it was worth it!

Premier League’s Greatest Moments

So, what did we decide to include as some of the most iconic moments from the greatest football league on the planet? For fans of the Premier League, there’s almost a new iconic moment created every week, so we searched for some of the biggest and best.

Who can forget Kevin Keegan telling us how much he would “love it!” if Manchester United failed to win the 1996 title? How about Delia Smith taking to the pitch at Carrow Road asking Norwich fans “where are you?!”? Our mural depicts everything from the crazy moments right through to the sublime.

Sergio Aguero’s iconic title-winning goal for Manchester City in 2012, David Beckham’s 1996 halfway line goal against Wimbledon, Leicester City lifting the Premier League title against all odds in 2016 and Tony Yeboah’s stunning volley for Leeds United against Liverpool in 1995 are just a handful of the moments depicted on our shed mural.

Getting Kitted Out

Once the shed was painted, we wanted to set it up to look like the ultimate fan paradise on the inside. We did this for Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Leeds United, showcasing just how perfect this space is for viewing the Premier League (or any other football match for that matter!).

With framed shirts on the wall, scarves, a TV and a pint of beer (plus a few extra cheeky nods to the history of each club) our football shed is ideal to kick back on a beanbag and watch new Premier League moments in the making!
