Our Footprint Carbon Neutral by 2024.
As a company, we recognise the importance of our environmental impact and are actively seeking ways to reduce our carbon footprint. With this in mind, we have launched an internal Footprint programme to find ways we can reduce our carbon footprint and be more environmentally friendly as a company. The main areas that we chose to focus on are; travel, consumables and waste.
Changes we’ve made so far:
# Joined the Travel Plan Network run by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, a 530 member organisation across West Yorkshire helping to improve travel options for employees. This includes the offer to staff of the cycle to work scheme, car share options through surveys and data analysis, and public transport discounts and subsidies. We are also in discussion to obtain charging stations for electric cars;
# We have invested heavily in burners to burn off-cut timber to heat both of our manufacturing facilities. This is clean timber burning so that heat provides sustainable warmth to staff and yet the burn does not negatively impact the atmosphere;
# Timber suppliers have been carefully selected to ensure we source timber from very well managed forests. We work with our suppliers to help them reduce their carbon footprints and consider emissions when deciding which suppliers to work with;
# We have invested in a new internal office system to increase efficiency and provide a more paperless office;
# We have changed our forklift trucks from diesel to electric.
# Our whole shed manufacturing unit has been kitted out with LED lights to make them more energy efficient.
